A few days ago, a post went viral about an elderly jeepney driver trying his luck with online gambling. The person who shared the story felt heartbroken—watching someone work so hard, only to gamble their day’s earnings away, hoping for a miracle.
It made me reflect on something deeper: how gambling culture has quietly shaped the way many Filipinos approach money.
We see it in lotto lines that stretch down the block and in conversations that start with, “If I win the jackpot…”
As an FA, I’ve met many people who’ve lost confidence in managing their finances. For them, betting seems like the only path out. But I’ve also seen others—ordinary people—who worked their way up slowly through discipline.
There is a proven path to building wealth.
Not overnight. Not dramatic.
Just consistent saving and smart investing.
There are many options out there that quietly earn 6% to 8% a year or even higher.
(And no, this isn’t a PRU sales pitch—though we do offer those too.)
The truth is: you just need patience and a bit of financial EQ.
Sometimes, it’s not about how much you earn.
It’s about how well you control your impulses and make small, steady choices.
Just an early morning thought habang nilalamig sa SB. haha!
